On Saturday, the IDF had the initiative in the three main areas of the war: Gaza, Lebanon and Judea and Samaria. This activity fits well with the Prime Minister’s speech last night, in which he promised all those who feared the end of the war, in light of the release of many reserve soldiers: “We must not stop the war until we achieve all goals. We are fighting to restore security both in the south and in the north. And until then, and for that, we have to put everything aside and continue with common forces until the ultimate victory is achieved.”
In the Gazan front, the 36th Division continued its offensive in the central camps, with an emphasis on Bureij, al-Maghazi and Nuseirat. In addition, in an accurate aerial bombing raid, commander of the Nuseirat Batalion, Isma’il Sarraj, and his deputy, Ahmad Wahba, were both eliminated. Saraj was directly involved in The Oct. 7th attack, and many of the soldiers under his command were in Kibbutz Be’eri. At the same time, the IDF Spokesman Hagari explained to journalists a little about the structure of Hamas, and about the various stages of victory – and in the process, he said that the large and general Hamas frameworks in the northern Gaza Strip (Jabaliya, Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia) were completely destroyed. In Khan Yunis, the fighting of the 98th Division continued, and a special picture of the Chief of Staff and the head of the Shin Bet visiting one of the Hamas tunnels in the city was published.
Up north, the long expectation of Hezbollah’s “response” to the assassination of Salah al-Arouri was realized, with dozens of rockets and missiles fired at the northern towns and at the IDF post on the top of Mount Meron (formerly the “eyes of the state”). In addition, a cross-border drone was launched, which was intercepted by a helicopter. As far as is known, there are no casualties on the Israeli side; and during Israel’s airial response, another 5 Hezbollah operatives were killed. The terrorist organization was quick to declare that this was only a “preliminary response,” but at this stage it seems clear that Nasrallah’s threats don’t have the same impact they used to.
In Judea and Samaria, the IDF and the Border Police went out to a special night operation in Jenin, in order to arrest a few terrorists. A police jeep boarded a Explosive, and in the incident several soldiers were wounded, and Sgt. Shai Germai (F) was killed; IDF air forces participated in the efforts to rescue and continue the operation, which also resulted in the killing of 6 terrorists, all members of the Askis family.
