Anti-Iranian and open statements to Israel by the new Syrian regime

IDF chief of staff, Herzi Halevi. IDF site

After the Assad government was overturned by the rebels last week, and in a flash operation in which the IDF destroyed most of the Syrian army’s military capabilities, the Syrian rebel official claim that the new regime in Syria is about to establish a “new state,” And that there is a possibility of restoring relations with Israel, a rebel official told N12. Among the plans are the destruction of the terrorist militias, the amendment of the Syrian constitution, and the restoration of relations on the regional and international levels.

“We have no hostility against Israel – a chance to rebuild relations with our neighbor.”

The source stressed in the conversation that the rebel intentions do not include entering into a confrontation with Israel. “We are not entering into a conflict with Israel and we have no hostility toward it. There is a possibility that relations with Israel will be restored, it is a neighboring state that borders with us.” The source said the new regime would not cooperate with Iran. “From now on, we will not accept any Iranian military presence on Syrian soil. The new government will take the weapons from the former criminal regime, dismantle all the armed militias and the elements identified with terrorism, and then make amendments to the previous constitution.”

Another source for the Syrian rebels added: “We strive to build stable and calm relations with all regional and international powers. “First of all, we have been directing all our capabilities to recover and escape the effects of the devastating war we have suffered – from the Assad regime, Russia and Iran – for 13 years. The actions that Israel is taking cannot come at the expense of Syrian sovereignty, or by harming it.”

Al-Julani: “Syria is exhausted, cannot enter into a confrontation with Israel.”

Similar statements were made yesterday by the rebel leader in Syria, Abu Muhammad al-Julani. “We are not entering into a conflict with Israel,” he said. “Israel is using the Iranian presence as an excuse to invade Syria. After the Iranians left, there are no arguments for foreign intervention in Syria.” He explained that Syria cannot enter another confrontation: “The people are exhausted from the war, the country is not ready and it is not going to enter another one. The country is moving toward development and rebuilding, it is going in a direction of stability.”
